STEM among Malaysian Students
The dwindling number of students pursuing STEM in Malaysia is among the concerning issues for the nation’s future. Not only we will have insufficient talents to compete internationally in the race of Industrial Revolution 4.0, the shortage of talents in technical field will also greatly affect nation’s economy. While it seems a lot of multinational tech. companies investing in Malaysia, our country should provide enough manpower who is qualified to secure jobs provided by these tech. companies.
The government is coming up with a lot of initiatives like STEM4ALL, aiming to boost the number of STEM students in Malaysia. Besides, a lot of NGOs are also providing technical courses all around the country. Thus, as student society, IEEE USM SB aims to contribute as much as we can in building competent young generations in this IR 4.0.
