2015 IEEE MALAYSIA STUDENT CONGRESS
2015 IEEE Malaysia Student Congress had successfully held in Universiti Putra Malaysia which organized by IEEE Malaysia Section in collaboration with IEEE Student Branch UPM. A number of 11 USM IEEE Student Branch delagates attended the congress on 7th November 2015 (Saturday) from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. The delagates consisted of Tan Ting Feng, William Yeap Keat Seong, Khor Yong Ling, Kuak Li Ming, Elysia Chiang Chern Yuen, Ong Hoay Yee, Tee Kah Hui, Tan Teong Sheng, Tai Ming Li, Neoh Sun Hao and Ng Jiann Jia. At 8.30 am sharp, the delagates from USM IEEE Student Branch registered at Executive Lounge, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Every delagates will be distributed to different group for group activity. The event started with welcoming remarks by program chair.
After a warm welcome from program chair, Assoc. Prof. Dr Zuhaina Zakaria (Chair of IEEE Malaysia Section) delivered her speech about introduction to IEEE Malaysia Section.
Ms. Esther Ling (Recipient of Larry K. Wilson Award 2014) gave a talk about “What it is like to be a volunteer for IEEE”.
Dr.Md Pauzi Abdullah (Chair Of Sudent Activities, IEEE Malaysia Section) introduced IEEE Student Branches to the floor.
Mr.Simon Yeoh (2014 Best Student Branch Award – USM) gave a talk about ” Best Practices in IEEE Student Branches.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lee Yoot Khuan (chair of Educational Activities IEEE Malaysia Section) introduced about IEEE Educational Activities.
Dr. Lim Soo Yong (Vice-Chair of IEEE WIE AG) introduced about IEEE Women in Engineering.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aduwati Sali (Chair of IEEE YP AG) introduced about IEEE Young Professional.
Besides, there were Final Year Projects (FYP) exhibition and prize giving ceremony to best FYP students. They deserved the award for their hard work. During the lunch, delegates from every IEEE student branch speak to each other and get new friends. As a highlight, Iron man from USM IEEE Student Branch showed himself on the spot. The iron man got attention from many people because it is COOL. Of course, taking a photo with the ironman himself is a must.
After lunch, there was networking session between group members. Group members consisted of delagates from different IEEE Student Branch. The members introduced themselves among the group members. Then, each group required to make a project proporsal to be presented later. In the group activity, it enabled us to build teamwork spirit and encourage collaboration between other IEEE Student Branch in the future. Lastly, the event ended with certificate giving ceremony and best proporsal award.
